La Cúpula
The brief
Profirst commissioned Frameboy to design five immersive dome projection backdrops for Zara’s 50th anniversary celebration in A Coruña, Spain. Each of the five exclusive showcase nights featured world-renowned artists performing against our custom-designed visual environments.
1. Myles Smith
For Myles Smith, best known for his hits Stargazing, Gold, and Nice to Meet You, we created a mesmerizing night sky with shooting stars that perfectly complement his unique style. Our focus was to keep the artist at the center of attention while designing visuals that blend naturally into the scene, creating a subtle atmosphere that surprises and delights viewers everytime when they look up.
2. Luz Casal
For Luz, we designed a dramatic cloudy night sky with a slowly rotating moon, perfectly synchronized with the rotating stage floor. Luz remained at the center, while the entire set, including the audience, gently revolved around her, creating a mesmerizing and immersive experience.
3. Air
Air brought their own LED visuals, and our challenge was to enhance them without interfering with their artwork. We layered a dynamic northern lights setup that could be adjusted in real time. At times, the visuals were dimmed to a simple starry sky, with colors controlled via DMX to perfectly complement the performance.
4. The Blaze
For The Blaze, we created an immersive stormy sky with subtle, continuous lighting in the clouds, setting the perfect mood for a night full of dancing.
5. Patti Smith
Legendary Patti Smith required an ambient, dreamy environment, for which we designed a spiral particle system that could be dynamically adjusted in brightness and color to match the mood of her songs and poetry. She marked the final of five performances celebrating Zara’s 50th birthday.
